The Wedding Prep Series: Bridesmaid Prep | Colorado Wedding Photographer

Last week, I talked about helping special people to be ready in time to participate in getting ready photos. This week, I’d like to talk about the getting ready timing for bridesmaids.
Getting ready with all the bridesmaids can be one of the funnest parts of the wedding day–all the girls in the bridal suite sipping fruity drinks and listening to music while they apply makeup and curl hair. And it’s especially fun to include bridesmaids in the getting ready shots of the bride putting on the dress, shoes, jewelry, and veil. However, it’s important not to postpone these things because your maid of honor’s changing in the background and your best friend can’t find her dress.
The getting ready portion of the wedding day is notorious for running behind, so it’s best to do a little extra planning and keep your schedule on course. When you’re planning your own getting ready schedule, consider planning a getting ready timeline for your bridesmaids as well.
While planning that timeline, think about your final wedding photos. What look are you going for?
Did you plan special robes for all the ladies to wear in the pictures? If so, it’s important that they get their hair and makeup done ahead of time. Then, after helping you into your wedding clothes, make sure the bridesmaid have time built into the schedule to change and primp.
If you want all the bridesmaids dressed in official bridesmaid dresses for getting ready shots, it’s best to communicate that early and schedule it in. This can be a good option for brides with limited time or those who want to go straight into bridesmaid photos. Having everyone change early makes that transition faster and easier.
For a successful wedding day schedule, the principle is almost always the same: plan ahead, create a well thought out schedule, communicate, communicate, communicate!
