I teared up at Jessica + Jared’s ceremony. I’m adult enough to admit that it happens to me sometimes. There are just some moments, some looks, some words that get to me. Even after all the weddings I’ve photographed, the emotion of the day still hits me.
Jessica + Jared’s wedding got to me. I think it was during the ceremony when the officiant talked about the story of their relationship. They chose to be married at the Arizona Grand Resort between the columns of palm trees because it reminded them of the Palm Walk at ASU, the school where they met. Jessica found herself at a party she wanted to leave. If she’d left, she never would have met him. She never would have caught his eye across the room. They never would have talked and felt something special. Then, they never would have spent the whole summer hanging out, getting to know each other while their friends were out of town. Jared never would have called her his girlfriend, and soldiered through tough school days by her side. They never would have spent the next 4 years together, learned to love each other while working hard, and become the most important part of each other’s world. He never would have bought a ring and waited like a year to propose until he had paid for it by himself. BUT she stayed at the party. She saw his smile from across the room, a moment that changed the rest of her life, whether or not she realized it at the time. So when Jessica woke up on Christmas morning to a beautiful question, asked in front of her entire family, she said “Yes!!!”
