Julie + Nick’s Doolittle Hall + Saint Patrick Catholic Church Wedding | Colorado Springs Wedding Photographer

Julie and Nick were married in a traditional Catholic ceremony at Saint Patrick Roman Catholic Church in Colorado Springs.  She prepped for the ceremony at home with all of her sisters and bridesmaids while her dad bar-tended and her friend serenaded them on the piano.  Then, it was off to the church for final getting ready photos.  Mid way through the ceremony, the clouds gathered and let loose a heavy downpour.  You could see the rain falling in thick sheets as wedding guests drove to Doolittle Hall on the U.S. Air Force Academy for the reception.  All the while, praying that the rain would let up and give us a window for outdoor photos.  This time, the weather cooperated.  After only a short delay, we were able to get our photos and head to the reception on time.

Enjoy!

I asked Julie to tell me a little bit about Nick, and here’s what she had to say:
“We met through an online dating site.” “Our first date was in a loud bar, so it was a bit comical that we were having to almost yell at each other, as we were trying to get to know one another. After a while, I didn’t even notice it because I was so smitten with his charm and good looks. I knew after the first date that this guy was different than all the rest.”

“A favorite date with Nick would probably be our 3rd date. We went to an Italian restaurant for dinner and later that night was our first kiss. It was a night I’d never forget.”“The most attractive thing about [Nick] is his unselfishness and caring personality. He always puts me first and makes me feel so loved.”When Nick proposed, “We took the cog railway up to the top of Pikes Peak with Nick’s best friend and his family, who were visiting from out of town. We got to the top and walked around for a few minutes, and Nick seemed somewhat anxious to go take a photo near the edge. I thought to myself, ‘why is he in such a hurry?’ So we walked down to a common photo area, and Nick’s friend Dan had the camera for a few basic shots (or what I thought!). And then after a few regular photos, Nick gets down on one knee. I immediately start crying. It was one of the best moments of my life, standing on this 14,000 foot mountain, with Colorado Springs in the background, saying yes to the man of my dreams. It was one of the most beautiful settings ever. Needless to say, I was very surprised!”“Two favorite memories for me: taking a week-long trip to an all-inclusive resort in Cancun and Nick coming back from his 9-month deployment to Afghanistan in August of 2016.” “Nick surprised me one year by getting me a new bike for my birthday. I was very surprised and excited!”“I really love how he has unique nicknames for me like Jitterbug or Love Dove. It’s really cute.”“Nick does something sweet for me everyday, whether it’s making me breakfast in the morning or leaving me a note saying ‘I love you’.” “I respect Nick’s work-ethic, his love for family and friends, and the fact that he would do anything for me in a heartbeat.”“One personality trait I love about Nick is that he is very sarcastic. He cracks me up everyday with his humor and jokes.”“Nick impresses me every time he puts on his Army uniform and goes to work. I have such admiration for what he does and the sacrifices he makes to protect our country. I am so proud of him, words can’t express how much I love him.”“I’m so excited to marry Nick because I get to spend the rest of my life with my best friend and the man of my dreams!”“I’m the lucky one in this relationship because he completes me. It took me a while to find him, but it was well worth the wait. We compliment each other so well, and I can’t imagine my life without him.”I asked Nick to tell me a little bit about Julie, and here’s what he had to say:

For the first date, “We met downtown, had drinks and shared details of our life stories, I walked her to her car and headed home. On my walk home I texted my best friend to tell him that I had just met the woman of my dreams.”“Over drinks downtown, we shouted over the blaring live music, trying to catch every word as we strained to hear one another. ”
“I’d have to say that our first date was my favorite, Julie entered my life that night and overwhelmed me with thoughts of a future together.”The most beautiful thing about Julie is, “Her unhesitating willingness to do anything for family, friends and all those she loves.”“Sunrise service at Red Rocks, a freezing cold Easter morning at 4 am, I told her I loved her for the first time.”
“At the top of Pike’s Peak, I popped the question and she said yes!”
“I find her most endearing quirk to be that she not only tolerates, but appears to enjoy my quirks.” “She stood by me during a 9-month deployment after dating for less than a year, sending me a constant flow of care packages, letters and inspiration. Despite poor internet connections and long periods of no communication she never lost hope in our relationship, she was there waiting for me when I got home.”
“I have a tremendous amount of respect for Julie’s beliefs and family values, she has a moral compass where doing the right thing is the only direction it points, I often find myself thinking that this world could use a lot more people like Julie.”

“Julie’s ability to grant forgiveness to others and move forward without holding a grudge is a trait I greatly admire about her.”
“There was never a “moment of clarity” where it dawned on me that she was “the one”, she walked into my life and from that moment there was never any doubt that this was the woman I had been looking for, she is the one for whom I must do anything to keep in my life.”
“I see our marriage as one of the opening chapters in the long story of our lives, I’m excited to begin a life where Julie and I are a team, bonded in marriage and ready to take on the world.”Nick says he’s the lucky one in this relationship because, “Julie possesses an ability to make others feel loved, to make those around her feel welcome and cared for, I am incredibly lucky to be the one who is on the receiving end of these affections.”
