I met Nicole and Matthew at Red Rock Canyon Open Space on a bright July evening. The week of the session, it rained several times, and I worried about having to reschedule because of weather. However, the night of the session was perfect–warm, summery, soft light filtering through the trees. Perfect evenings are a rare gift, and it could not have happened for a nicer couple.
I asked Nicole to share a little bit about Matt. Here’s what she had to say:
“For our first date we hopped the fence into a private community swimming pool. It was summer and there aren’t many pools in Colorado, so we were desperate!”
The most attractive thing about Matt is “That he’s super smart!”
Her favorite memories together are from hiking a 14er and the time they visited Moab.
Nicole says that Matt’s never successfully surprised her because “He can’t hide things from me!”
“He always listens to me and truly cares about me more than himself!”
“I respect the decisions he makes and see him as a leader.”
Nicole says she’s the lucky one in this relationship because “he’s my dream guy! I couldn’t have asked for someone more kind and understanding to spend life with. I’m basically his princess!”
I asked Matt to share a little bit about Nicole. Here’s what he had to say:
“My favorite date was when we hiked Mt. Quandary. The view was great at over 14,000 feet and I wouldn’t have wanted to see it with anyone else.”
“I’ve always thought she has a beautiful smile but I think the thing that gets to me the most is her genuine kindness and selflessness.”
“We spent 10 weeks apart in the summer of 2015. One of my favorite memories was seeing her for the first time after those 10 weeks. I don’t think she stopped smiling the whole time we were together.”
“She surprised me for my birthday this year with a trip to Boulder for a concert and time spent with good friends. I couldn’t have asked for a better surprise!”
“When I had really busy days in college she would bring food or coffee to wherever I was working. It was always a good reminder that she was supporting me.”
“When I spent 10 weeks away from her last summer, I spent a lot of time thinking about our relationship. The more I thought about her, the more I realized that she was the perfect girl for me to marry. Once I got back and saw her again I knew she was the one.”
Matt says he’s the lucky one because, “Nicole will always put me ahead of herself, even when I’m being stubborn. I am incredibly lucky to have someone who genuinely cares and who will support me through anything.”
